Application
Azure II has been used in the Richardson′s stock solution for the staining of lysosomal glycogen. It has also been used in the periodic acid schiff staining procedure for the staining of glycogen, nuclei and cytoplasm.

Azure II is used in combination with methylene blue and basic fuchsin for dyeing semi-thin slices. The complex is used to stain nuclei, goblet cells, striated muscle, endothelial cells, smooth muscle, cytoplasm, lipid droplets, red blood cells, glycogen, collagen, cartilage, mucous particles, elastin, and white blood cells.
