Application: |
Synthetic zwitterionic detergent, which unlike other amphoteric surfactants, retains its zwitterionic character over a wide pH range. This property is attributed to the presence of both a strongly basic quaternary ammonium ion and an acidic sulfonate ion of equal strength. This ionic balance presumably prevents irreversible binding of the detergent to either anionic or cationic compounds. |

Uses: |
3-(N,N-Dimethylmyristylammonio)propanesulfonate has been used in a study to assess a method for quantifying perchlorate in biological samples using CE and capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection. It has also been used in a study to investigate an approach for establishing adsorbents for elimination of water-soluble organic dyes. |
